Exploring Hilton Head More - Part 3
While I was at Hilton Head Island, I noticed a lot of things stood out about it. The first was that it is such a peaceful, relaxing place. Because you could be right by the ocean and beaches, it reminded me of the time I spent in Florida, where I was in a very quiet and serene spot. I found that being close to nature again was really helpful in quieting my mind and relaxing my spirit.
There were also many good restaurants! I had some food from the Hilton Head salad bar, and it was absolutely delicious. The vegetables were all fresh, and I piled up the pasta and side dishes on my plate!
Another thing I noticed about Hilton Head was how friendly and kind the people were there. The environment was very welcoming, no matter where you came from. I saw people from many different backgrounds, but no matter who you were, the people you met were so friendly. When I was at the tennis shop at the tournament, I told the ladies who worked there how much I enjoyed Hilton Head. I said, "I really really like it here!"
"Well, maybe one day you can think about staying here!" said one of the ladies. I said, "Yes, I really would do that if I could! Maybe one day I will!"
I loved Hilton Head, and I found it was so peaceful. I do think that if I could live there at some point in my life, I would, even if it were only for a short while.
While I was at Hilton Head Island, I also saw a lot of cultural events. There is definitely a lot of support for the arts! As we walked through the beautiful parks, I saw there was a poetry trail where you could scan a drawing of a writer and read a poem! When my mom and I took a walk, we also happened to hear a country music concert. It was really peaceful hearing the music in the background as we sat in the park.
When I was at one of the stores, I also picked up a really beautiful card that had an inspiring message. The art and the writing on it stood out to me. The poem on the back was about trying again in life, no matter what hard times or setbacks you faced. You always have a chance to try again. Reading that poem really helped me to feel hopeful about the future.
If I'm blessed to go down south and see Hilton Head Island again, I'd spend more time exploring the art events. I didn't have a lot of time to do it during the trip, but reading about the events in the brochures gave me the feeling that I was there to enjoy it, even in a vicarious way.
In part 4, I'm going to write more about Sumter, which was the next city we traveled to for the tennis tournament there. Thanks for reading!
