New Year and Future Plans
Now we're in the new year! In winter, it's usually quiet where I am, because tennis is not really possible to do when it's too cold outside (I would like to go to indoor courts in winter, but they're too expensive right now). But I have some ideas for what I'd like to do as it warms up again, and I can start playing outside.
My experience with ITF tournaments showed me how much effort is involved in reaching even the beginning levels of pro tennis, and because I have many other interests, I'm starting to view tennis as more of a recreational activity. I'll absolutely continue to play, because I really love the sport, but I want to also focus on other activities and interests I have, such as art and science. As a result, I think I'll compete less often this year, but I'll still make sure I get out there and play. I'll start working out in the house again so I can stay in shape!
One of my hopes is to play in the Althea Gibson tournament that happens in my city! The tournament honors Althea's incredible achievements in tennis, and it invites people of all skill levels to join in. I'd love to go there and give my best effort, and have a lot of fun, too! I've always admired Althea Gibson and her accomplishments, tenacity, and bravery. So, it would be awesome to compete in a tournament that honors her.
I'll write here again when more is going on! Thanks for reading.
