Practicing Again!
I didn't realize it, but people actually missed me and my family a lot when we were away from the tennis courts. While I was taking a walk a few weeks ago, and we walked by the courts, one of the coaches recognized me when I waved hello. He said we ought to come back out more often and play! It was great to see the tennis folks again.
Last week, we practiced again for the first time in a while, and it was fun! I approached it as just a way to exercise and play around. Along the way, I saw Michelle, one of the coaches we've known and seen for years. She's pivoting to pickleball now, too, which I thought was a really smart move. You might as well do both as a coach to expand your business! :)
I also tried hitting with my Dad, who wanted to get some exercise in, too. He was a little rusty because he hasn't hit in a long time, but I didn't mind, since I just see tennis as a way to have fun.
It felt good to get out there and swing again! I felt the main takeaway I got from practicing for the first time in months was that I just enjoy tennis itself, regardless of whether I'm a tennis star or not. It felt so great to just hit that ball and let off some energy through running around and playing.
I'm definitely going to keep on playing tennis, as a recreational player. I feel that's more enjoyable for me, because I don't feel any stress about trying to push myself too hard. All I want to do is have a court to play on and enjoy the moment. That was the tennis life lesson for that day!
When I have some more tennis adventures, I'll share them here when I'm ready. I'm also thinking of going back in the past a bit to share some of the adventures I had back then. I have a lot of interesting stories to tell. :)
